Responsibilities
Responsibilities include maintaining INTERPOL-AU liaison on relevant crime matters affecting Africa, supporting regional law-enforcement and crime-combating information flows, and seeking African Union support for regional and national cooperation initiatives.
The role helps develop and implement projects and programmes for African member states, with emphasis on tactical capability, capacity building, transnational crime response, terrorism-related work, and compliance with human rights and internationally recognized values.
The post also involves organizing and participating in AU-connected meetings and conferences, representing INTERPOL externally, preparing agendas and invitations, coordinating meeting logistics, anticipating issues, drafting final meeting reports and mission reports, preparing summaries, presenting INTERPOL's mission, receiving visitors, and ensuring INTERPOL is included in relevant AU and regional security or law-enforcement discussions.
Additional responsibilities include monitoring African Union activities relevant to law enforcement and security, analyzing and disseminating relevant information, identifying common INTERPOL-AU priorities, preparing joint programme or project ideas, carrying out studies, preparing summary reports, and performing other duties directed by the hierarchy.
Requirements
The official vacancy asks for a three-to-four-year university degree or other specialized higher education, preferably a university degree in Law, Public Policy or Police Management, plus suitable legal or law-enforcement training.
