Board Director — Mbooni Water and Sanitation Company

About the Role

The Makueni County Public Service Board is seeking qualified individuals to serve as Board Directors for Mbooni Water and Sanitation Company Limited (MBONWASCO). This is a governance role requiring strong professional background in law, finance, engineering, or management.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic governance and oversight for the water and sanitation utility
• Ensure compliance with WASREB (Water Services Regulatory Board) standards and regulations
• Oversee corporate governance and policy adherence for the company
• Support organizational decision-making on legal, financial, and operational matters
• Ensure the company meets all statutory and regulatory requirements
• Contribute professional expertise to board deliberations and strategic planning
• Promote transparency, accountability, and good governance practices

• Minimum Bachelor's degree from a recognized Kenyan university in Law, Accounting/Finance, Engineering, Human Resource, or Business/Management Systems
• Membership in good standing with a relevant professional body
• Minimum 7 years of working experience in core profession or running a registered enterprise
• Must satisfy Leadership and Integrity criteria under Chapter 6 of the Constitution of Kenya (2010)
• Must meet fit and proper test criteria from WASREB
• Must be a resident of the MBONWASCO service area
• Cannot hold political office or be a State Officer
• Kenyan citizen
