Job Description

About the Role

Royal Jordanian Airlines, the flag carrier of Jordan, is seeking a Legal Counsel specialising in Aviation and Regulatory Law. Based at the Amman headquarters near Queen Alia International Airport, you will advise on air transport agreements, regulatory compliance, and international aviation conventions.

Responsibilities

  • Advise on bilateral air services agreements, code-share arrangements, and alliance partnerships under the Chicago Convention and bilateral treaties
  • Ensure compliance with the Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission (CARC) of Jordan and IATA standards
  • Draft and negotiate aircraft lease agreements, maintenance contracts, and ground handling agreements
  • Handle passenger claims and cargo disputes under the Montreal Convention and Warsaw Convention
  • Advise on competition law matters related to airline alliances and market access in the MENA region
  • Support regulatory filings with the CARC, Ministry of Transport, and international aviation authorities

Requirements

  • LLB or LLM from a recognised university; specialisation in aviation, transport, or international law preferred
  • Jordan Bar Association membership with minimum 5 years of legal experience
  • Knowledge of international aviation law conventions, IATA regulations, and Jordanian aviation legislation
  • Experience in the aviation or transport sector, either in-house or at a specialist law firm
  • Excellent negotiation and contract drafting skills in Arabic and English
  • Willingness to travel for regulatory meetings and negotiations
