Legal Officer — Tax Disputes & Litigation at Uganda Revenue Authority

The Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) seeks a Legal Officer to join its Legal and Corporate Affairs Division. The role involves handling tax disputes, objections, and appeals before the Tax Appeals Tribunal and courts, as well as providing legal advisory services on tax administration matters.

• Handle tax objections, appeals, and alternative dispute resolution proceedings
• Represent URA before the Tax Appeals Tribunal and courts of judicature
• Draft legal opinions on tax matters and legislative interpretation
• Advise on tax assessment and enforcement procedures
• Prepare case strategies and legal submissions
• Review and advise on tax rulings and advance pricing agreements
• Monitor court decisions affecting tax administration

• LLB degree from a recognized university
• Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre
• Enrolled as an Advocate of the High Court of Uganda
• 3-5 years of post-qualification experience in tax law or commercial litigation
• Knowledge of the Income Tax Act, VAT Act, Tax Procedures Code Act, and EAC Customs Management Act
• Experience in tax disputes is an advantage
• Strong advocacy and written communication skills
