About the Role
Khalifeh & Partners is hiring an Associate for the Tax and Customs Law practice in Amman. You will advise corporate and individual clients on Jordanian tax obligations, customs duties, and tax planning strategies.
Responsibilities
- Advise clients on income tax obligations under the Income Tax Law No. 34 of 2014 and the General Sales Tax Law
- Represent clients in tax disputes before the Income Tax Court and the Tax Objections Committee
- Prepare tax opinions and structuring advice for foreign investment projects and free zone operations
- Advise on customs duties, tariff classifications, and trade facilitation under the Jordanian Customs Law
- Assist with tax compliance, reporting, and audit defence before the Income and Sales Tax Department
- Research international tax treaties and double taxation agreements to which Jordan is a party
Requirements
- LLB from a recognised university; LLM in Tax Law or specialisation in fiscal law preferred
- Jordan Bar Association membership with 2-4 years post-qualification experience
- Strong knowledge of the Income Tax Law, General Sales Tax Law, and Customs Law
- Experience in tax litigation before the Income Tax Court is preferred
- Analytical skills with ability to interpret complex tax legislation
- Fluency in Arabic and English with strong legal drafting abilities
