Job Description

International Arbitration Associate at Schoenherr

Schoenherr Rechtsanwälte is seeking an International Arbitration Associate for our Vienna dispute resolution team. Vienna is one of the world's premier arbitration seats, and Schoenherr is at the forefront of CEE dispute resolution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent clients in international commercial and investment arbitration proceedings (ICC, VIAC, ICSID, UNCITRAL)
  • Draft submissions, witness statements, and expert reports for complex multi-jurisdictional disputes
  • Conduct legal research on Austrian, EU, and international law issues arising in arbitrations
  • Assist with enforcement of foreign arbitral awards in Austria and CEE jurisdictions
  • Support business development and client relationship management in the arbitration practice

Requirements

  • Austrian legal qualification or common law degree with 3-5 years of international arbitration experience
  • Experience with major arbitral institutions (ICC, VIAC, LCIA, or ICSID)
  • Strong academic credentials, ideally including an LL.M. in international arbitration or dispute resolution
  • Excellent legal writing and advocacy skills in English; German proficiency required
  • Willingness to travel for hearings and client meetings
