Job Description
The Central Bank of Jordan is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to advise on the legal framework for Jordan's rapidly evolving payment systems and fintech ecosystem. Based at the CBJ headquarters on King Hussein Street in downtown Amman, you will draft regulations for mobile wallets, e-payment services, and digital banking under the CBJ's National Payment System Law.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft regulations for payment service providers and e-money institutions
- Advise on licensing frameworks for fintech companies and digital banks
- Review sandbox applications and regulatory approval processes
- Provide legal opinions on interoperability, open banking, and instant payment regulations
- Represent the CBJ at regional and international payment system forums
Requirements
- LLB from a recognised university; LLM in financial regulation or technology law preferred
- Admitted to the Jordan Bar Association
- 7-10 years PQE in financial regulation, fintech, or payment systems
- Knowledge of PSD2 equivalents and international payment system standards
- Arabic and English fluency required
