Job Description
Jurist/Juristin — Financial Market Supervision at FMA
The Austrian Financial Market Authority (FMA) is looking for a qualified Jurist/Juristin to join our supervisory division. You will contribute to the regulation and supervision of Austria's banking, insurance, and capital markets sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct legal analysis of licensing applications and supervisory proceedings under BWG, VAG, and WAG
- Draft administrative decisions, enforcement orders, and penalty proceedings
- Monitor regulatory compliance of supervised entities and conduct on-site inspections
- Contribute to the development of Austrian financial market legislation and EU regulatory transposition
- Represent the FMA in administrative court proceedings (BVwG, VwGH)
Requirements
- Completed Austrian legal education (Mag. jur.) with Gerichtspraxis or equivalent practical experience
- 3-5 years of experience in financial regulation, banking law, or capital markets law
- Strong knowledge of Austrian financial market legislation (BWG, WAG, VAG, BaSAG)
- Understanding of EU financial regulatory frameworks (CRR/CRD, MiFID II, Solvency II)
- Fluent in German; good command of English
