Senior Legal Counsel — Financial Stability at Bank of Uganda

The Bank of Uganda seeks a Senior Legal Counsel to advise on financial stability frameworks, resolution of distressed financial institutions, and cross-border regulatory cooperation. This senior role requires extensive experience in financial regulation law and policy.

• Lead legal advisory on financial stability and macroprudential regulation
• Advise on resolution frameworks for distressed banks and financial institutions
• Draft legislation, regulations, and policy guidelines
• Represent the Bank in high-level regulatory and policy forums
• Coordinate with regional and international regulators (EAC, COMESA, BIS)
• Manage complex litigation involving the Bank
• Supervise and mentor junior legal officers

• LLB degree from a recognized university
• Diploma in Legal Practice from LDC
• Master's degree in law (LLM), preferably in financial regulation or international law
• Enrolled as an Advocate of the High Court of Uganda
• 8-10 years of post-qualification experience in banking law, financial regulation, or corporate law
• Experience in bank resolution, receivership, or insolvency is highly desirable
• Knowledge of international financial regulation standards (Basel framework)
