Position Overview
Job Description
The National Bank of Rwanda (BNR) is seeking a Senior Legal Officer for its Legal Counsel Department. You will conduct legal research, handle litigation, provide legal opinions, and assess laws and regulations related to the Bank's regulatory and supervisory functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct legal research on issues affecting BNR's regulatory decisions
- Handle litigation on behalf of the central bank
- Draft and review legal opinions on banking and financial sector regulations
- Assess laws, regulations and directives related to monetary policy
- Advise on compliance with international banking standards (Basel framework)
Requirements
- LLB degree from a recognised university; LLM preferred
- Admitted by the Rwanda Bar Association
- Minimum 5 years legal experience in financial services or regulation
- Knowledge of the Banking Act, Microfinance Law and National Bank of Rwanda Law
- Fluency in English and Kinyarwanda; French an advantage
