Job Description
Bennett Jones LLP is seeking a Senior Associate for its Energy Regulatory practice in Calgary. You will represent oil and gas companies, pipeline operators, and utilities before the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC), the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER), and the Canada Energy Regulator (CER).
Key Responsibilities
- Represent clients in rate hearings, facility applications, and enforcement proceedings before the AUC and AER
- Advise on pipeline and transmission facility applications under the Canadian Energy Regulator Act
- Draft regulatory submissions, evidence filings, and argument for contested regulatory proceedings
- Advise on Indigenous consultation requirements for energy infrastructure projects
- Monitor regulatory developments and advise clients on their compliance obligations
Requirements
- Called to the Bar in Alberta (Law Society of Alberta member)
- 6-9 years post-call experience in energy regulatory, administrative, or environmental law
- JD/LLB from a recognized law school
- Experience with AUC, AER, or CER proceedings
- Strong written advocacy and oral presentation skills
