Job Description

Banco de Chile, one of Chile's largest systemically important financial institutions, seeks a Senior Regulatory Compliance lawyer for its Santiago centro headquarters. The role involves managing the bank's compliance with the Ley General de Bancos (DFL 3 de 1997), CMF normativa, anti-money laundering regulations (Ley 19.913 and UAF guidelines), and Basel III capital adequacy requirements.

The successful candidate will lead the bank's regulatory compliance programme, manage CMF examination responses, and advise the board on regulatory risk. Chile's evolving financial regulation landscape — including open banking (Ley 21.521 Ley Fintech) and digital banking initiatives — creates significant compliance challenges requiring senior legal leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Leading the bank's regulatory compliance programme across all CMF normativa requirements
  • Managing responses to CMF on-site examinations and supervisory observations
  • Advising the board and senior management on regulatory risk and compliance strategy
  • Overseeing AML/CFT compliance, suspicious transaction reporting to the UAF, and KYC procedures
  • Implementing Basel III capital, liquidity, and leverage ratio compliance frameworks
  • Advising on Ley Fintech compliance for digital banking products and open banking APIs

Requirements

  • Licenciatura en Ciencias Juridicas and juramento ante la Corte Suprema
  • 8-12 years of experience in banking regulation, compliance, or financial services law
  • Deep knowledge of Ley General de Bancos, CMF normativa, and Basel III requirements
  • Experience with AML/CFT compliance under Ley 19.913 and UAF (Unidad de Analisis Financiero) guidelines
  • Understanding of Ley 21.521 (Ley Fintech) and open banking regulation
  • English proficiency for coordination with international correspondent banks and regulators
