Job Description
The Central Bank of Oman (CBO) is seeking a Banking Regulation Legal Adviser for its Ruwi headquarters in Muscat. The role involves drafting banking regulations, advising on fintech licensing, and supporting the CBO's supervisory functions under the Banking Law (Royal Decree 114/2000).
Key Responsibilities
- Draft and review banking regulations, circulars, and guidance notes under the Banking Law
- Advise on licensing applications for new banks, fintech companies, and payment service providers
- Support the banking supervision department on enforcement actions and remedial measures
- Advise on the legal framework for open banking, digital payments, and cryptocurrency regulation
- Coordinate with the Ministry of Justice, CMA, and international regulatory bodies (BIS, IMF)
Requirements
- LLB and LLM in Banking, Finance, or Regulatory Law
- Admitted as Lawyer/Legal Adviser; Oman Bar admission preferred
- 7-12 years PQE in banking regulation, financial services law, or central banking
- Knowledge of Basel III/IV framework, AML/CFT standards, and Omani banking legislation
- Bilingual Arabic and English essential
Responsibilities
