Job Description

Construction & Engineering Lawyer — Lee Hishammuddin Allen & Gledhill

Lee Hishammuddin Allen & Gledhill, home to one of Malaysia's leading construction law practices, is seeking a Construction & Engineering Lawyer to join its team in Kuala Lumpur. The successful candidate will handle complex construction disputes, infrastructure project advisory, and arbitration matters under AIAC (Asian International Arbitration Centre) rules.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise employers, contractors, and subcontractors on construction contracts including PAM, CIDB, and FIDIC standard forms
  • Handle construction arbitration proceedings before the AIAC (formerly KLRCA) and ad hoc arbitrations
  • Represent clients in adjudication proceedings under the Construction Industry Payment and Adjudication Act 2012 (CIPAA)
  • Advise on major Malaysian infrastructure projects including MRT, LRT, and highway concession agreements
  • Draft and review construction contracts, variation orders, extension of time claims, and defects liability provisions
  • Handle construction-related litigation before the Malaysian High Court and Court of Appeal

About Lee Hishammuddin

Requirements

  • Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya with 4-8 years PQE in construction law or dispute resolution
  • Strong knowledge of CIPAA 2012, PAM 2018, and FIDIC contract forms
  • Experience in arbitration proceedings before the AIAC or equivalent arbitral institutions
  • Familiarity with Malaysian construction industry regulations and CIDB requirements
  • LL.B. from a recognised university; CLP holder
  • Excellent advocacy, drafting, and analytical skills
  • Willingness to handle matters involving site visits and technical construction issues
