Job Description
Ashurst's Brisbane office at 480 Queen Street is seeking an Associate for its Energy & Resources practice. Brisbane is the gateway to Queensland's massive coal, gas, and renewable energy sector, and you will advise on LNG projects, coal mining agreements, and the state's growing renewable energy pipeline.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise on coal and gas project development agreements, infrastructure access arrangements, and offtake contracts
- Handle regulatory approvals under the Mineral Resources Act 1989 (Qld) and Environmental Protection Act 1994 (Qld)
- Support renewable energy project development including wind, solar, and battery storage PPAs
- Draft and negotiate joint venture, farm-in, and royalty agreements
Requirements
- Admitted as a solicitor in Queensland (or eligible for admission); 3-5 years PQE
- Experience in energy, resources, or infrastructure law
- Knowledge of Queensland mining and environmental legislation
- Strong commercial drafting skills
