Data Protection & Privacy Counsel

Omantel (Oman Telecommunications Company) is seeking a Data Protection & Privacy Counsel for its Al Mawaleh headquarters in Muscat. This role focuses on ensuring compliance with Oman's Personal Data Protection Law (Royal Decree 6/2022) and the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) privacy directives.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain Omantel's data protection compliance programme under the Personal Data Protection Law (RD 6/2022)
• Conduct data protection impact assessments for new products, services, and partnerships
• Draft and review data processing agreements, privacy notices, and consent mechanisms
• Advise on cross-border data transfer requirements and TRA regulatory submissions
• Train business units on data privacy obligations and handle data subject access requests

Requirements

• LLB from a recognised university; CIPP/E, CIPM, or equivalent privacy certification preferred
• 3-6 years PQE in data protection, privacy law, or telecom regulatory compliance
• Knowledge of Oman's Personal Data Protection Law, EU GDPR (for benchmarking), and TRA regulations
• Experience in the telecommunications or technology sector preferred
• Fluent English; Arabic advantageous
