Job Description
Employment Law Associate — Skrine
Skrine is seeking an Employment Law Associate to join its growing labour and employment practice, based at its Petaling Jaya office. The role involves advising employers on the Employment Act 1955, Industrial Relations Act 1967, and related Malaysian labour legislation, as well as representing clients in proceedings before the Industrial Court and Labour Court.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise Malaysian and multinational employers on compliance with the Employment Act 1955, including recent amendments on flexible working arrangements and maternity leave
- Draft and review employment contracts, employee handbooks, retrenchment packages, and mutual separation agreements
- Represent employers in Industrial Court proceedings for unfair dismissal claims under Section 20 of the Industrial Relations Act 1967
- Advise on foreign worker employment permits, expatriate passes, and Immigration Act compliance
- Handle trade union matters including collective bargaining, recognition proceedings, and industrial action disputes
- Advise on workplace safety compliance under the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994

Requirements
- Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya with 2-4 years PQE in employment or labour law
- Strong knowledge of the Employment Act 1955, Industrial Relations Act 1967, and Employees Provident Fund Act 1991
- Experience appearing before the Industrial Court or Labour Court
- LL.B. from a recognised university; CLP holder with completed chambering
- Excellent drafting skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia
- Ability to advise on both contentious and non-contentious employment matters
- Knowledge of data privacy implications in the employment context under the PDPA
