Job Description

Employment Law Senior Associate — SyCip Salazar Hernandez & Gatmaitan

SyCip Salazar is seeking an Employment Law Senior Associate to join its Labor and Employment practice group in Makati City. The associate will advise major Philippine and multinational employers on all aspects of labor law, from workforce planning to complex litigation before the National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC).

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise employers on compliance with the Philippine Labor Code, DOLE Department Orders, and occupational safety and health standards
  • Handle complex employment litigation including illegal dismissal, constructive dismissal, and unfair labor practice cases before Labor Arbiters, NLRC, Court of Appeals, and the Supreme Court
  • Draft and review employment contracts, non-compete agreements, separation agreements, and retirement plans
  • Advise on labor aspects of M&A transactions, business closures, and retrenchment programs
  • Support clients in collective bargaining negotiations and union-related matters
  • Conduct workplace investigations and advise on disciplinary procedures ensuring compliance with twin notice and hearing requirements

Requirements

  • Admitted to the Philippine Bar with active IBP membership
  • 7-10 years of employment law experience at a top-tier Philippine law firm
  • Expert knowledge of the Philippine Labor Code, DOLE regulations, and NLRC rules of procedure
  • Proven track record in employment litigation before the NLRC and appellate courts
  • J.D. or LL.B. from a recognized Philippine law school
  • Excellent advocacy, negotiation, and client management skills
  • Experience handling high-volume labor cases for multinational employers
