BBH advokátní kancelář is seeking a Freelance Legal Translator for Czech/English legal document translation. This is a contract role supporting multiple practice groups with translation of contracts, court documents, legal opinions, and regulatory filings.
The ideal candidate has experience translating Czech legal terminology, including terms from the Občanský zákoník, Zákon o obchodních korporacích, and Czech procedural codes. Familiarity with Czech court judgment formats and notarial deed templates is essential. Work is primarily remote with occasional on-site meetings in Karlín, Prague 8.
Responsibilities
Translate contracts, legal opinions, and court documents (Czech to English and English to Czech). Translate regulatory filings and corporate documents for cross-border transactions. Maintain translation memories and terminology databases. Ensure consistency of legal terminology across all translations. Meet agreed deadlines and quality standards. Attend periodic team meetings at the Karlín office.
Requirements
Certified legal translator (soudní tlumočník) registered with the Regional Court, or equivalent qualification. 3+ years of legal translation experience (Czech-English/English-Czech). Deep knowledge of Czech legal terminology across multiple practice areas. Familiarity with CAT tools (SDL Trados, MemoQ). Available for minimum 20 hours per week.
