Intellectual Property & Technology Attorney — Tiruchelvam Associates

Tiruchelvam Associates, Colombo's leading IP boutique, seeks an Attorney-at-Law to join its growing Intellectual Property & Technology practice in Colombo 7. The firm is at the forefront of IP law in Sri Lanka, advising technology companies, pharmaceutical manufacturers, creative industries, and international brands.

The role focuses on trademark prosecution, patent advisory, copyright enforcement, and technology licensing under the Intellectual Property Act No. 36 of 2003. You will engage with the National Intellectual Property Office of Sri Lanka (NIPO), handle IP infringement litigation at the Commercial High Court, and advise on Sri Lanka's evolving digital economy and data protection landscape.

• Prosecute trademark and patent applications before NIPO
• Handle IP infringement and passing-off litigation at the Commercial High Court
• Draft technology licensing agreements, software contracts, and franchise documentation
• Advise on copyright registration and enforcement for creative and digital content
• Conduct IP due diligence for M&A and investment transactions
• Advise on data protection compliance and emerging privacy legislation

• Attorney-at-Law admitted by BASL with 3–5 years' experience, including IP law
• Thorough knowledge of the Intellectual Property Act No. 36 of 2003
• Experience with trademark prosecution and patent applications at NIPO
• Understanding of copyright law, including digital copyright and software licensing
• Familiarity with international IP frameworks (WIPO, TRIPS, Paris Convention)
• Interest in technology law, data protection, and cybersecurity regulation
• LL.B. with IP law specialisation or postgraduate qualification preferred
