Job Description
ESCOM is seeking a Legal Counsel to manage power purchase agreements, construction contracts and regulatory compliance for Malawi's national electricity distribution utility. Based in Blantyre with oversight of contracts across all operational regions.
Key Responsibilities
- Negotiate and manage power purchase agreements with IPPs
- Draft and review construction, supply and EPC contracts
- Advise on Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) requirements
- Handle commercial disputes and arbitration proceedings
Requirements
- LLB; admitted by the Malawi Law Society
- 3+ years in commercial contracts, energy or infrastructure law
- Experience with FIDIC or NEC contract forms an advantage
