Job Description
Senior Associate – Contencioso
Mattos Filho Advogados seeks a senior litigation associate for its São Paulo office. The role involves handling complex civil, commercial, and arbitration disputes for major Brazilian and international clients before the STJ, TRFs, and leading arbitration institutions.
Responsibilities
- Represent clients in high-value civil and commercial litigation before the STJ (Superior Tribunal de Justiça) and TRFs (Tribunais Regionais Federais)
- Manage complex arbitration proceedings before CAM-CCBC, ICC, and other institutions under the Brazilian Arbitration Act (Lei 9.307/96)
- Draft petitions, appeals, and legal memoranda on civil procedure (CPC/2015), contract law, and corporate disputes
- Advise on litigation strategy, risk assessment, and settlement negotiations
- Supervise junior associates and coordinate with expert witnesses and consultants
Requirements
- Bacharel em Direito; OAB registration; LLM or postgraduate in civil procedure or arbitration preferred
- 8–12 years' experience in litigation or arbitration at a leading firm
- Strong knowledge of CPC/2015, Código Civil, and arbitration law (Lei 9.307/96)
- Advanced English; experience with international arbitration valued
