Senior Legal Counsel – Insurance Law

KBC Group is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel for its insurance operations based in Ghent, the capital of East Flanders and home to KBC Insurance. You will advise on Belgian insurance regulation, product development legal compliance, and distribution law under the Belgian IDD implementation.

What You Will Do

• Advise on Belgian insurance regulation and NBB/FSMA supervisory requirements for insurance companies
• Support insurance product development and ensure legal compliance with Solvency II and IDD frameworks
• Advise on insurance distribution law and intermediary regulation
• Handle insurance litigation and policyholder disputes before Belgian courts
• Advise on GDPR compliance for insurance data processing activities

• Lead insurance legal advisory for KBC Insurance operations
• Support product development with regulatory compliance review
• Manage insurance litigation and dispute resolution
• Advise on regulatory reporting and NBB supervisory interactions
• Monitor Belgian and EU insurance regulatory developments

• Belgian Bar admission or equivalent legal qualification
• Master in Law from a Belgian university; specialization in insurance law preferred
• 7-10 years of experience in insurance law, insurance regulation, or financial services
• Deep knowledge of Belgian Insurance Law, Solvency II, and IDD implementation
• Fluent in Dutch and English; French is required
• Experience in an insurance company legal department or specialized practice
