Internship Description
Chambering Student — Skrine
Skrine, one of Malaysia's premier law firms, is accepting applications for chambering students to undergo the mandatory 9-month pupillage period. Chambering students at Skrine rotate through multiple practice areas including corporate and commercial, banking and finance, dispute resolution, employment, and intellectual property, gaining comprehensive exposure to the work of a leading Malaysian law firm.
What You Will Do
- Rotate through at least 3 practice areas during your 9-month chambering period as required by the Malaysian Bar Council
- Assist Advocates and Solicitors in drafting legal documents, conducting research, and attending court hearings
- Attend the Bar Council's chambering programme workshops and advocacy training sessions
- Conduct legal research on Malaysian case law and statutes using CLJ Law and LexisNexis
- Assist in corporate transactions including due diligence, document drafting, and regulatory filings
- Attend client meetings and observe negotiations under the supervision of your pupil master

Skrine has a proud tradition of training the next generation of Malaysian Advocates and Solicitors. Many of the firm's current partners began their careers as chambering students at Skrine. The firm provides structured training, mentorship by a designated pupil master, and a monthly allowance throughout the chambering period.

Requirements
- Holder of Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP) or equivalent qualifying certificate recognised by the Malaysian Bar Council
- LL.B. from a recognised Malaysian or overseas university (University of Malaya, UiTM, IIUM, UKM, UK universities, or Australian universities)
- Strong academic record with a minimum CGPA of 3.0 or Second Class Upper Honours
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia
- Genuine interest in a career in private legal practice
- Malaysian citizen or permanent resident
- Available to commence the full 9-month chambering period
