Chambering Student — Wong & Partners (Baker McKenzie)

Wong & Partners, Baker McKenzie's member firm in Malaysia, is accepting applications from CLP holders for the 9-month chambering period. As part of the Baker McKenzie network, chambering students at Wong & Partners gain exposure to international standard legal practice while fulfilling the Malaysian Bar Council's pupillage requirements.

What You Will Do

  • Complete the mandatory 9-month chambering period under the supervision of an assigned pupil master
  • Rotate through practice areas including corporate/M&A, banking and finance, dispute resolution, tax, and employment law
  • Participate in Baker McKenzie's regional training programmes and knowledge-sharing sessions
  • Assist in cross-border transactions and gain exposure to international legal practice standards
  • Attend court hearings, client meetings, and negotiations with senior Advocates and Solicitors
  • Attend the Malaysian Bar Council's chambering programme requirements

Requirements

  • Holder of Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP) or equivalent qualifying certificate
  • LL.B. from a recognised university with strong academic results
  • Interest in cross-border transactional work and international legal practice
  • Excellent English communication and drafting skills
  • Proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia
  • Malaysian citizen or permanent resident
  • Available to start the full 9-month chambering period
