Julius & Creasy is seeking an Associate Attorney-at-Law to join its Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution practice at its historic Fort, Colombo 1 offices. With Colombo emerging as a regional arbitration hub, the firm handles both domestic and international commercial arbitrations under the Arbitration Act No. 11 of 1995, SIAC Rules, and ICC Rules.

The Associate will prepare arbitration submissions, attend hearings at the Sri Lanka National Arbitration Centre, and handle enforcement proceedings. The role draws on the firm's deep Roman-Dutch litigation tradition while engaging with modern international arbitration practice — a compelling combination unique to Sri Lanka's mixed legal system.

• Prepare submissions, witness statements, and document bundles for arbitration proceedings
• Attend hearings at the Sri Lanka National Arbitration Centre and ad hoc venues
• Handle enforcement and setting-aside applications under the Arbitration Act
• Draft arbitration clauses and dispute resolution mechanisms for commercial contracts
• Represent clients in mediation proceedings before the Mediation Boards Commission
• Research comparative arbitration law and international best practices

• Attorney-at-Law admitted by BASL with 3–5 years' post-admission experience
• Knowledge of the Arbitration Act No. 11 of 1995 and international arbitration rules (SIAC, ICC, LCIA)
• Experience with commercial litigation and dispute resolution
• Understanding of mediation, conciliation, and ADR mechanisms
• Strong legal research, drafting, and advocacy skills
• LL.B. from a recognised university; diploma in arbitration or ADR an advantage
• Fluency in English required for international arbitration work
