Associate – Competition & Antitrust
Lee & Ko is seeking an Associate for its Competition & Antitrust practice at the Hanjin Building, Jung-gu, Seoul. You will advise clients on Korea Fair Trade Commission investigations, merger control filings, and competition compliance under the 독점규제 및 공정거래에 관한 법률 (Monopoly Regulation and Fair Trade Act).
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and file KFTC merger control notifications for domestic and cross-border transactions
- Represent clients in KFTC investigations of alleged anti-competitive agreements, abuse of market dominance, and unfair trade practices
- Design and implement competition compliance programmes for Korean subsidiaries of multinational corporations
- Advise on chaebol-specific regulations including restrictions on cross-shareholdings, intra-group transactions, and large business group designations
- Handle appeals of KFTC corrective orders before Seoul High Court and the Supreme Court
Requirements
- Korean 변호사 licence with 3-5 years of competition law or regulatory experience
- Knowledge of the 독점규제법 and KFTC procedural rules
- Experience with KFTC merger filings or enforcement proceedings
- Strong English for cross-border antitrust coordination
