Associate – International Arbitration
Lee & Ko is seeking an Associate for its International Arbitration practice at the Hanjin Building, Jung-gu, Seoul. You will represent Korean conglomerates and foreign investors in commercial and investment treaty arbitrations seated in Seoul, Singapore, and other major arbitral centres under ICC, KCAB, SIAC, and ICSID rules.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft statements of claim, statements of defence, witness statements, and legal submissions in international arbitrations
- Conduct legal research on Korean law issues, including 상법 (Commercial Act), construction law, and energy disputes
- Assist in document review, evidence management, and hearing preparation for arbitrations before KCAB International
- Advise on enforcement of foreign arbitral awards in Korea under the New York Convention and Korean Arbitration Act
- Support investor-state arbitration claims involving Korea's bilateral investment treaties
Requirements
- Korean 변호사 licence with 3-5 years of dispute resolution or arbitration experience
- Experience with ICC, KCAB, or SIAC arbitral proceedings
- Excellent English legal writing skills (LLM from a common law jurisdiction preferred)
- Knowledge of Korean contract law and civil procedure
