Job Description

Avocat – Belgian & International Tax

Loyens & Loeff's Brussels office near the Parc du Cinquantenaire is seeking a Tax Avocat to join the Benelux's largest independent tax practice. Belgium's notoriously complex tax system—with its notional interest deduction, innovation income deduction, extensive ruling practice, and ongoing reforms—makes this one of the most intellectually demanding and rewarding tax practices in Europe.

You will advise multinational corporations, private equity funds, and family offices on Belgian and international tax structuring, including holding company regimes, transfer pricing, and OECD BEPS Pillar Two implementation.

What You Will Do

  • Advise on Belgian corporate income tax planning including notional interest deduction and innovation income deduction
  • Structure cross-border holding and financing arrangements through Belgium
  • Draft advance tax ruling requests to the Belgian Service for Advance Decisions (Dienst Voorafgaande Beslissingen/Service des Décisions Anticipées)
  • Advise on transfer pricing compliance and documentation under Belgian and OECD standards
  • Advise on OECD BEPS Pillar One and Pillar Two (global minimum tax) implementation in Belgium

Responsibilities

  • Advise on Belgian and cross-border tax structuring for corporate clients
  • Draft tax opinions and advance ruling requests
  • Support M&A transactions with tax due diligence and structuring advice
  • Advise on transfer pricing and Pillar Two compliance
  • Monitor Belgian tax legislative developments and prepare client updates

Requirements

  • Admission to a Belgian Bar required
  • Master in Law from a Belgian university; additional Master in Tax Law (UCLouvain, ULB, KU Leuven) strongly preferred
  • 3-6 years of Belgian and international tax law experience
  • Deep knowledge of Belgian Income Tax Code (CIR/WIB 1992), VAT Code, and Belgian double tax treaty network
  • Fluent in English and French or Dutch
  • Experience with tax rulings and Belgian tax administration practice
