Job Description

Construction & Infrastructure Lawyer at Raed Lim Advocates

Raed Lim Advocates, a specialist Brunei litigation firm, is looking for a Construction & Infrastructure Lawyer to join its practice in Bandar Seri Begawan. The role involves advising on major infrastructure projects linked to Brunei's national development plans, including the Temburong Bridge corridor development, affordable housing initiatives, and government infrastructure upgrades.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate construction contracts based on FIDIC, JCT, and local government standard forms
  • Advise on procurement processes for government infrastructure projects under Brunei's public procurement regulations
  • Handle construction dispute resolution through adjudication, mediation, and arbitration under UNCITRAL rules
  • Advise on land acquisition matters under the Land Code (Chapter 40) and compulsory acquisition procedures
  • Represent clients in construction-related litigation before the High Court of Brunei
  • Advise on performance bonds, retention money disputes, and contractor claims

Responsibilities

  • Advise on construction contracts and infrastructure projects
  • Manage construction dispute resolution proceedings
  • Support the firm's real estate and construction practice

Requirements

  • Admitted to practise in Brunei under the Legal Profession Act (Chapter 132)
  • 4-8 years of experience in construction law, infrastructure projects, or real estate
  • Familiarity with FIDIC and JCT contract forms
  • Experience with construction arbitration and dispute resolution
  • Law degree from UBD, a UK, or Australian university
  • Fluent in English; Malay proficiency preferred
