Data Privacy & Technology Counsel — Grab Malaysia
Grab, Southeast Asia's leading superapp, is seeking a Data Privacy & Technology Counsel for its Malaysia operations based in Bangsar South, Kuala Lumpur. The role involves advising on data privacy compliance under the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA), fintech regulation, and technology law matters across Grab's ride-hailing, food delivery, and financial services platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise on compliance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA) and the Personal Data Protection Commissioner's guidelines
- Draft and review privacy policies, data processing agreements, and data sharing arrangements across Grab's ecosystem of services
- Advise on fintech licensing requirements with Bank Negara Malaysia for GrabPay and Grab Financial Group operations
- Handle regulatory inquiries from the Personal Data Protection Department and other Malaysian regulators
- Advise on AI governance, algorithm transparency, and digital platform regulation in the Malaysian context
- Support product teams on privacy-by-design principles and data protection impact assessments

About Grab Legal

Requirements
- Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya with 4-7 years PQE in data privacy, technology law, or regulatory compliance
- Strong knowledge of the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 and its subsidiary legislation
- Experience advising technology companies or financial institutions on data privacy compliance
- Understanding of Bank Negara Malaysia's fintech regulatory framework and e-money licensing
- LL.B. from a recognised university; CIPP/A or equivalent privacy certification is an advantage
- Ability to translate complex legal requirements into practical business guidance
- Experience working in a fast-paced technology or startup environment
