Job Description
Data Protection & Privacy Counsel — Zain Iraq, Baghdad
Zain Iraq is looking for a Data Protection & Privacy Counsel to build and manage the company's data protection compliance program as Iraq develops its data privacy regulatory framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement Zain Iraq's data protection compliance framework
- Advise on subscriber data handling, consent management, and lawful interception obligations
- Monitor international data protection developments (GDPR, regional standards) for applicability
- Handle data subject access requests and data breach incident response
- Draft privacy notices, data processing agreements, and internal policies
- Train business teams on data protection best practices
- Advise on cross-border data transfer mechanisms with Zain Group entities

Requirements
- Law degree with data protection or technology law background
- 2-5 years of experience in data protection, privacy law, or technology law
- Understanding of international data protection frameworks (GDPR, etc.)
- Knowledge of Iraqi telecommunications regulations
- Arabic and English proficiency
- CIPP/E or similar privacy certification is a plus
- Experience in a telecommunications or technology company preferred
