Job Description

Employment & Labour Law Advocate — Subedi & Associates

Subedi & Associates seeks an Advocate (अधिवक्ता) specialising in employment and labour law for its Putalisadak, Kathmandu office. Nepal's labour law framework has been comprehensively overhauled by the Labour Act 2074 and the Contribution Based Social Security Act 2074, creating intense demand for specialist employment law counsel across all sectors.

The role involves advising employers on compliance with the Labour Act 2074, drafting employment contracts and HR policies, handling termination disputes before the Labour Court, and advising on the new social security contribution regime administered by the Social Security Fund. The Advocate will serve Nepali corporations, banks, INGOs, and manufacturing companies navigating Nepal's increasingly sophisticated labour regulatory landscape.

Responsibilities

  • Advise employers on compliance with the Labour Act 2074 and Labour Rules 2075
  • Draft employment contracts, staff handbooks, and HR policies compliant with Nepali labour law
  • Handle termination disputes and represent clients before the Labour Court
  • Advise on social security contribution compliance under the Contribution Based Social Security Act 2074
  • Manage industrial dispute resolution and collective bargaining matters
  • Advise on occupational health and safety compliance and workplace regulations

Requirements

  • Advocate licensed by the Nepal Bar Association (NBA) with 3–5 years' experience in employment/labour law
  • Knowledge of the Labour Act 2074, Contribution Based Social Security Act 2074, and Labour Rules 2075
  • Experience appearing before the Labour Court and Labour Office
  • Understanding of trade union law, collective bargaining, and industrial dispute resolution
  • Familiarity with occupational health and safety regulations
  • LL.B. from a recognised institution; labour law specialisation preferred
  • Nepali and English proficiency required
