Job Description

Investigation Officer – Cartel Enforcement

The Korea Fair Trade Commission (KFTC / 공정거래위원회) is hiring an Investigation Officer for its Cartel Investigation Bureau at 95 Dasom 3-ro, Sejong City. You will investigate anti-competitive agreements, bid-rigging, and price-fixing under the 독점규제 및 공정거래에 관한 법률 (Monopoly Regulation and Fair Trade Act) — Korea's principal competition statute.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct dawn raids and on-site investigations of suspected cartel activity in Korean industries
  • Analyse documentary and digital evidence to identify anti-competitive agreements and concerted practices
  • Draft investigation reports and enforcement recommendations for the KFTC Commissioners' meeting
  • Process leniency applications under Korea's cartel leniency programme
  • Coordinate with international competition authorities (US DOJ, EU DG COMP, JFTC) on cross-border cartel investigations

Requirements

  • Korean 변호사 licence or completion of Grade 5 civil service examination with 3-5 years of experience
  • Knowledge of the 독점규제법 (MRFTA) and KFTC enforcement procedures
  • Strong analytical and investigative skills; experience with digital forensics is a plus
  • English proficiency for international cooperation and cross-border investigations
