Junior Legal Officer — Southern Region — Hatton National Bank

Hatton National Bank (HNB) seeks a Junior Legal Officer for its Southern Region operations, based in Galle — Sri Lanka's historic southern port city and UNESCO World Heritage site. The role supports HNB's expanding branch network across the Southern and Western Provinces.

The Junior Legal Officer will handle credit documentation review, title verification for mortgage lending, and basic debt recovery proceedings at the District Court of Galle. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for a recently admitted Attorney-at-Law to build a banking law career in the Southern Province, with mentorship from HNB's experienced legal management team.

• Review and verify loan documentation and security instruments for Southern Province branches
• Conduct title searches at the Galle and Matara Land Registries
• Handle routine debt recovery filings at the District Court of Galle
• Support Parate Execution proceedings for non-performing loans
• Assist with property valuation coordination and security perfection
• Provide legal advisory support to Southern Province branch managers

• Attorney-at-Law admitted by BASL with 0–2 years' post-admission experience
• Basic knowledge of banking law, mortgage documentation, and the Banking Act
• Understanding of property law and land title registration in the Southern Province
• Ability to appear before the District Court of Galle and Magistrate's Courts
• LL.B. from a recognised Sri Lankan university or Sri Lanka Law College
• Sinhala fluency required; English proficiency essential
• Based in or willing to relocate to Galle
