Legal Manager — Central Region — Hatton National Bank

Hatton National Bank (HNB) is hiring a Legal Manager for its Central Region operations, based in Kandy. HNB has its historical roots in the hill country plantation sector and maintains a significant branch network across the Central, Uva, and Sabaragamuwa Provinces.

The Legal Manager will oversee all legal matters arising from HNB's upcountry operations, including credit recovery, security enforcement, property-related banking transactions, and regulatory compliance. The role requires an Attorney-at-Law with deep knowledge of land and property law in the central districts — including estate (plantation) land matters — and the ability to coordinate recovery proceedings across multiple District Courts in the central highlands.

• Oversee all legal operations for HNB's Central Province branch network
• Manage credit recovery and Parate Execution proceedings across upcountry courts
• Conduct and supervise title searches and property valuations for mortgage lending
• Advise on plantation sector land matters including estate leasehold conversions
• Coordinate with the firm's Colombo head office legal department on appeals and policy matters
• Manage relationships with external panel lawyers across the Central, Uva, and Sabaragamuwa Provinces

• Attorney-at-Law admitted by BASL with 7+ years' post-admission experience in banking or property law
• Extensive experience with land title verification and mortgage documentation in the central districts
• Knowledge of the Banking Act, Parate Execution, and plantation sector land regulations
• Experience managing a team of legal officers and external panel lawyers
• Familiarity with Kandyan law property and succession principles
• Sinhala fluency required; Tamil proficiency an advantage
• Based in or willing to relocate to Kandy
