Legal Counsel – Mortgage & Real Estate Finance

Nykredit, Denmark's largest mortgage lender, is seeking a Legal Counsel for its regional office in Aarhus. The Danish mortgage credit system (realkreditsystem) is unique in Europe, featuring pass-through covered bonds that directly fund mortgage loans. Nykredit's Aarhus presence supports its extensive Jutland lending operations and property finance portfolio.

You will advise on the full range of mortgage law matters under the Danish Mortgage-Credit Loans Act (Realkreditloven), real estate finance structuring for the Jutland market, and regulatory compliance with Finanstilsynet requirements.

What You Will Do

• Advise on mortgage lending under the Realkreditloven and associated executive orders
• Draft and review mortgage documents, security packages, and loan agreements
• Advise on covered bond issuance and capital requirements under CRR/CRD framework
• Handle consumer credit compliance under the Danish Consumer Credit Act (Kreditaftaleloven)
• Advise on real estate collateral perfection and registration with the Danish Land Registry (Tinglysningsretten)
• Support regulatory interactions with Finanstilsynet on mortgage credit supervision

• Provide mortgage and real estate finance legal advisory
• Draft and review mortgage and loan documentation
• Advise on regulatory compliance and capital adequacy matters
• Handle consumer credit regulatory issues
• Support product development with legal input

• Cand.jur. from a Danish university
• 3-6 years of experience in real estate finance, mortgage lending, or banking law
• Knowledge of the Realkreditloven and Danish mortgage credit system
• Fluent in Danish and English
• Experience with Tinglysning (land registration) procedures
• Understanding of covered bond regulation is an advantage
