Legal Officer — Nepal Rastra Bank

Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), Nepal's central bank, seeks a Legal Officer for its Legal Division at the NRB headquarters in Baluwatar, Kathmandu. NRB is the apex monetary and financial regulatory authority, responsible for banking supervision, monetary policy, and foreign exchange management under the Nepal Rastra Bank Act 2058.

The Legal Officer will handle banking supervision enforcement, regulatory drafting, foreign exchange compliance under the Foreign Exchange (Regulation) Act 2019, and prosecution of unlicensed financial activities. The role provides unparalleled exposure to financial regulation at the national level, including engagement with the Office of the Attorney General (Mahanyayaadhivakta Ko Karyalaya) and the Supreme Court (Sarbochcha Adalat).

• Handle banking supervision enforcement actions and regulatory proceedings
• Draft regulations, directives, and circulars for the banking and financial sector
• Advise on foreign exchange compliance under the Foreign Exchange (Regulation) Act 2019
• Coordinate with the Office of the Attorney General on prosecution matters
• Review legal aspects of banking licence applications and institutional approvals
• Research and advise on international central banking legal developments

• Advocate licensed by the Nepal Bar Association (NBA) with 3–6 years' post-admission experience
• Knowledge of the Nepal Rastra Bank Act 2058, Banking and Financial Institution Act 2073, and monetary law
• Understanding of foreign exchange regulations under the Foreign Exchange (Regulation) Act 2019
• Experience with regulatory enforcement and administrative law
• Knowledge of anti-money laundering frameworks and the Financial Information Unit
• LL.B. from a recognised university with strong academic record
• Nepali and English proficiency required; passed NRB officer selection exam
