Litigation Attorney-at-Law — D.L. & F. de Saram (Kandy)

D.L. & F. de Saram is expanding its upcountry litigation practice and seeks an Attorney-at-Law to be based in Kandy, Sri Lanka's cultural capital and the seat of the Central Province courts. The firm has a distinguished litigation heritage and maintains a strong presence at the Hulftsdorp courts complex in Colombo.

The Kandy-based role focuses on civil and commercial litigation, property disputes, and employment law matters before the District Court of Kandy, Magistrate's Court, and the Provincial High Court. The successful candidate will handle cases involving land disputes in the plantation districts, succession matters under Kandyan law (a unique feature of Sri Lanka's legal system), and commercial disputes arising in the central highlands.

• Appear before the District Court of Kandy, Provincial High Court, and Magistrate's Court
• Handle civil litigation including land disputes, partition actions, and succession matters
• Manage commercial disputes and debt recovery proceedings in the Central Province
• Advise on Kandyan law succession and matrimonial property matters
• Coordinate with the firm's Colombo office on appeals to the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court
• Draft pleadings, motions, and legal submissions in Sinhala and English

• Attorney-at-Law admitted by BASL with 3–6 years' post-admission litigation experience
• Strong knowledge of the Civil Procedure Code, Evidence Ordinance, and court procedures
• Experience with Kandyan law succession and property disputes preferred
• Familiarity with plantation sector labour law and the Wages Boards Ordinance
• Ability to appear before District Courts, High Courts, and appellate courts
• Sinhala fluency required; Tamil language skills an advantage
• Willingness to be based in Kandy with periodic travel to Colombo
