Job Description

Coghlan & Welsh Legal Practitioners seeks an experienced Mining and Energy Law Associate to join our Bulawayo office. The successful candidate will advise clients on compliance with the new Mines and Minerals Bill 2025, mining title transfers, environmental impact assessments, and energy sector regulatory matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise mining and energy clients on regulatory compliance and licensing
  • Draft and review mining agreements, concession contracts, and joint venture arrangements
  • Handle environmental compliance matters related to mining operations
  • Represent clients before the Mining Affairs Board and proposed Mining Court
  • Research and advise on the implications of the Mines and Minerals Bill 2025

Requirements

  • LLB degree from a recognized university
  • Registered Legal Practitioner with the Law Society of Zimbabwe
  • 3-5 years post-qualification experience in mining, energy, or environmental law
  • Knowledge of the Mines and Minerals Act and Environmental Management Act
  • Excellent research and drafting skills
