Construction & Infrastructure Senior Associate — Pinsent Masons, Edinburgh

Pinsent Masons, a top-20 UK law firm consistently ranked Band 1 for construction law, is seeking a Senior Associate Solicitor to join its Construction & Infrastructure practice in Edinburgh. The Edinburgh office is a major centre for the firm's UK-wide construction practice, advising on major infrastructure projects across Scotland and the wider UK.

You will advise employers, contractors, and funders on complex construction and engineering projects, including highways, rail, energy infrastructure, and public-sector frameworks. The team regularly acts on disputes before the Technology and Construction Court (TCC) and in construction adjudications and arbitrations.

Key Focus

  • Non-contentious construction advice on NEC4, JCT, and FIDIC contracts
  • Construction disputes, adjudications, and TCC litigation
  • Infrastructure procurement under the Procurement Act 2023
  • Scottish construction law and Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996

Responsibilities

  • Lead on non-contentious construction and infrastructure mandates for major clients
  • Draft, negotiate, and advise on NEC4, JCT, and bespoke construction contracts
  • Manage construction dispute proceedings, including adjudications and TCC litigation
  • Advise on procurement processes for public infrastructure projects
  • Supervise junior associates and trainees across the Edinburgh office
  • Contribute to business development and client relationship management in the Scottish market

Requirements

  • Qualified Solicitor of Scotland or England and Wales with 5-8 years PQE in construction law
  • Extensive experience drafting and negotiating NEC4, JCT, and FIDIC construction contracts
  • Experience in construction adjudication, arbitration, or TCC litigation
  • Knowledge of the Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996 and Scheme for Construction Contracts
  • Understanding of public procurement under the Procurement Act 2023
  • Strong project management skills and ability to handle multiple mandates simultaneously
