Job Description
Product & IP Counsel — Design Technology (Hybrid Remote)
Figma is hiring a Product & IP Counsel to advise on intellectual property, product development, and AI-related legal matters for our collaborative design platform.
This is a hybrid role — remote-first with occasional visits to our San Francisco office. Our legal team operates with a distributed mindset and async collaboration.
What You'll Do:
- Advise product and AI teams on IP implications of design tools and AI features
- Manage patent portfolio and IP protection strategy
- Handle IP disputes, licensing negotiations, and enforcement matters
- Draft terms of service, API licenses, and developer platform agreements
- Support M&A due diligence from an IP perspective

Responsibilities
Advise on IP implications of product development and AI features. Manage patent and IP portfolio strategy. Handle IP disputes and licensing negotiations. Draft platform agreements and API terms. Support corporate transactions with IP diligence.
Requirements
JD with IP focus; technical background or patent bar admission a plus. 5-8 years in IP law, product counseling, or technology law. Experience with software patents, copyright in digital content, and AI/ML IP issues. Understanding of open-source licensing and developer platform legal considerations. Excellent communication skills for distributed team collaboration.
