Job Description

Senior Advokat – Employment Law

Plesner on Amerika Plads in Copenhagen is seeking a Senior Advokat for its leading Employment Law practice. Danish employment law is characterized by the 'flexicurity' model — a unique combination of flexible hiring/firing rules, strong social security, and active labour market policies. The Danish Salaried Employees Act (Funktionærloven) and the extensive collective bargaining agreement (overenskomst) system form the backbone of the legal framework.

You will advise major Danish and international employers on all aspects of Danish employment law, from executive contracts to collective restructurings, workplace discrimination under the Danish Anti-Discrimination Act (Forskelsbehandlingsloven), and cross-border employment matters.

What You Will Do

  • Advise on individual and collective dismissals under the Funktionærloven and applicable overenskomster
  • Handle collective restructurings and mass layoffs under the Danish Collective Redundancies Act (Masseafskedigelsesloven)
  • Draft and negotiate executive employment contracts, non-compete clauses, and severance agreements
  • Represent employers before Danish labour courts and arbitration tribunals
  • Advise on workplace discrimination, harassment, and whistleblower protection under the Danish Whistleblower Act
  • Handle cross-border employment matters and posted workers issues

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex employment law mandates for major employers
  • Advise on collective restructurings and negotiate social plans
  • Represent clients in employment litigation and arbitration
  • Train client HR teams on Danish employment law compliance
  • Contribute to business development and client relationship management

Requirements

  • Danish Bar admission (advokat) required
  • Cand.jur. from a Danish university; specialization in employment law preferred
  • 7-12 years of post-qualification experience in Danish employment law
  • Deep knowledge of the Funktionærloven, Ferieloven, Forskelsbehandlingsloven, and overenskomst system
  • Fluent in Danish and English
  • Litigation and arbitration experience in employment disputes
  • Experience advising on the Danish 'flexicurity' model in a cross-border context
