Telecommunications Regulatory Lawyer — Nithya Partners

Nithya Partners seeks a Senior Attorney-at-Law specialising in telecommunications and technology regulation for its Colombo 7 office. As Sri Lanka's digital economy accelerates, Nithya Partners advises major mobile operators, ISPs, and technology companies on regulatory compliance, spectrum licensing, and digital infrastructure investment.

The role focuses on advisory work under the Sri Lanka Telecommunications Act, TRCSL regulations, and emerging data protection and cybersecurity frameworks. The successful candidate will engage directly with the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) and advise on convergence, net neutrality, and digital payment regulation.

• Advise telecommunications operators on compliance with the Telecommunications Act and TRCSL directives
• Handle spectrum licensing applications and renewals before the TRCSL
• Draft interconnection agreements, tower-sharing contracts, and infrastructure leasing arrangements
• Advise on data protection compliance and emerging privacy regulation
• Represent clients in regulatory proceedings and appeals before the Court of Appeal
• Monitor and advise on legislative developments in digital economy regulation

• Attorney-at-Law admitted by BASL with 7+ years' experience, including telecommunications law
• Deep knowledge of the Sri Lanka Telecommunications Act and TRCSL regulatory framework
• Experience with spectrum licensing, interconnection agreements, and tower-sharing arrangements
• Understanding of data protection, cybersecurity, and digital payment regulation
• Experience engaging with the TRCSL, ICTA, and other technology regulators
• LL.B. with postgraduate qualification in IT law or telecommunications regulation preferred
• Fluency in English required
