Tourism & Hospitality Legal Advisor — John Keells Holdings (Galle)

John Keells Holdings seeks a Legal Advisor for its Leisure sector, focusing on the Southern Province tourism corridor centred on Galle. JKH operates Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts, one of Sri Lanka's largest hotel chains, with significant properties along the southern coast from Beruwala to Yala.

The Tourism & Hospitality Legal Advisor will handle hotel management agreements, tourism licensing, land leasing for resort development, environmental compliance, and employment law matters specific to the hospitality sector. The role is based in Galle — Sri Lanka's premier southern tourist destination and UNESCO World Heritage city — with travel to resort properties across the Southern Province.

• Draft and negotiate hotel management agreements, franchise contracts, and tourism licensing documentation
• Advise on land leasing and property development for resort projects in the Southern Province
• Ensure compliance with SLTDA licensing, environmental regulations, and the Coastal Conservation Act
• Handle employment law matters for hospitality staff under the Shop and Office Employees Act
• Manage commercial disputes with suppliers, tour operators, and contractors
• Advise on foreign tourist-related legal issues and travel insurance claims

• Attorney-at-Law admitted by BASL with 3–5 years' post-admission experience
• Knowledge of tourism and hospitality sector regulation, including SLTDA requirements
• Experience with commercial leasing, property development, and environmental law
• Understanding of the National Environmental Act and Coastal Conservation Act
• Familiarity with employment law as applied to the hospitality sector
• LL.B. from a recognised institution; experience in tourism/hospitality sector preferred
• Based in or willing to relocate to Galle; English fluency essential
