Internship Description
Kituo Cha Sheria, Kenya's oldest legal aid organization, offers internships for law graduates passionate about access to justice and public interest law. Interns work on housing rights, land eviction prevention, refugee legal aid, and community legal education in Nairobi's informal settlements.
Responsibilities
Provide legal aid clinics in informal settlements. Assist in drafting court documents for eviction defense cases. Support community paralegals in resolving disputes. Conduct legal awareness sessions on land rights, tenancy, and consumer protection. Document cases for advocacy and impact reporting.
Requirements
LLB from a recognized university or final year law student. Strong commitment to social justice and pro bono legal work. Fluency in Kiswahili essential for community engagement. Willingness to work in informal settlement communities (Mathare, Kibera, Mukuru).
