Internship Description
UNEP Nairobi headquarters offers a 6-month internship in its Law Division for law students and recent graduates interested in international environmental law and climate policy. Interns contribute to research on plastic pollution treaty negotiations, biodiversity frameworks, and climate litigation trends worldwide.
Responsibilities
Research legal dimensions of ongoing environmental negotiations (plastic pollution treaty, post-2020 biodiversity framework). Draft research briefs and background papers for legal officers. Compile and analyze climate litigation cases from global databases. Support preparation of legal publications and technical papers.
Requirements
Currently enrolled in or recently completed LLB/LLM with focus on environmental or international law. Strong research and writing skills. Fluency in English; French, Spanish, or Arabic is an asset. Must be able to commit to 6 months full-time in Nairobi.
