Legal Intern — Oil & Gas at Brunei Shell Petroleum
Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP) is offering a paid 3-month summer internship for law students in its Legal Department in Seria. This is a prestigious internship opportunity providing exposure to energy law, oil and gas contracts, and in-house legal work at Brunei's largest petroleum company. BSP's internship programme is highly competitive and is a stepping stone for careers in the Brunei energy sector.
What You Will Learn
- Review and summarise oil and gas contracts, including drilling agreements and service contracts
- Assist with contract management database updates and compliance tracking
- Research Brunei petroleum legislation and Shell's global legal standards
- Attend in-house legal team meetings and cross-functional project discussions
- Gain exposure to upstream operations through site visits to BSP's Seria operations
- Support regulatory filing and corporate governance activities
Duration: 3 months (paid internship — BND 1,000/month)
Note: This is a competitive, paid internship. Transport to and from Seria may be provided.
Responsibilities
- Support the in-house legal team on oil and gas contract matters
- Conduct legal research on energy legislation
- Attend team meetings and operational site visits
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a law degree programme at UBD, a UK, Australian, or Malaysian university
- Strong academic record (minimum GPA 3.0 or equivalent)
- Interest in energy law and the oil and gas industry
- Attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Fluent in English; Malay is preferred
