Legal Internship — Nuclear Safeguards at IAEA

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is offering a legal internship in its Office of Legal Affairs in Vienna. This is a prestigious opportunity for aspiring international lawyers interested in nuclear law, non-proliferation, and international treaty frameworks.

What You Will Do

  • Research international nuclear law instruments, including the NPT, safeguards agreements, and additional protocols
  • Assist Legal Officers with analysis of Member State obligations and compliance issues
  • Draft legal memoranda, research papers, and briefing documents
  • Attend IAEA Board of Governors meetings and General Conference sessions as an observer
  • Support the legislative assistance program for Member States developing nuclear legislation

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a postgraduate degree in international law or nuclear law
  • Strong interest in nuclear non-proliferation, disarmament, or international security law
  • Excellent English language skills; French or other UN languages are advantageous
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment
