Job Description

IDEAL CANDIDATE STATEMENT The Ideal Candidate for the Supervisory General Attorney (Labor) position has exemplary legal research, legal analysis, and writing skills. A demonstrated familiarity with the National Labor Relations Act and ability to produce well-written and analytically-sound substantive documents are preferred. The preferred skills include legal research, legal analysis and making recommendations regarding the disposition of cases submitted or assigned. In addition, the Ideal Candidate is preferred to able to write and edit court-ready memoranda and other legal documents. BASIC REQUIREMENTS Education: Applicants must have successfully completed a full course of study in a school of law accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA) and have the first professional law degree (LL. B or JD). Bar Membership/Certification: Applicants must be an active member of the BAR in good standing of any state, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or any Territorial court under the U.S. Constitution. Your active BAR license must reference BAR number and indicate the status of good standing. An Agency's Internal or a Self-Certification Form is not acceptable for verification. In addition to the BASIC REQUIREMENTS, applicants must also meet the following: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE Applicants must have one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-14 grade level, which has provided them with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of a Supervisory General Attorney (Labor) at the GS-15 level. Specialized experience includes: Experience providing leadership on labor laws and providing recommendations on questions and issues involving sensitive public relations concerns, or potentially wide-impact labor-management relations affairs; and Experience reviewing and analyzing complex legal and factual decisions and case records to gather information to prepare draft briefs and legal memoranda; and Experience conducting extensive research on statutes, regulations, and ordinances to present arguments and prepare opinions through written and oral communication. This experience must be fully supported and articulated in your resume to receive consideration. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. The SF-50 must include your Position, Title, Series, Grade, Step, Tenure (1 or 2), and Type of Service (Excepted). As a current NLRB Excepted Service employee, you may determine your status by checking block 24 on your SF-50. The block must reflect "1" or "2". Also, block 34 must reflect "2". A copy of your SF-50 must be provided for verification.
